Filipino President Ferdinand Marcos Jr has proclaimed a state of calamity - the threshold of which involves numerous deaths, widespread structural damage, and disruption to means of livelihoods and the normal way of life for people in the affected areas.
This powerful storm, called in the region Tino, ripped through the populous island of Cebu, flooding complete communities and sweeping cars through the streets.
Tens of thousands of people were forced to evacuate, others are resting in emergency shelters.
