Grief as Renowned South African DJ Shot Dead in the City of Johannesburg.
A prominent South African radio and club DJ has been fatally gunned down in the metropolis of Johannesburg, triggering widespread grief across a country struggling with persistent crime.
Warrick Stock, popularly known as DJ Warras, was gunned down in the downtown area on a Tuesday afternoon.
Police said the forty-year-old presenter was confronted by a trio of assailants, with one began shooting at him before escaping on foot.
The purpose behind the shooting is unknown and no suspects have been apprehended have taken place, according to authorities.
The Fatal Incident
Authorities indicated that Stock was ambushed as he was leaving a building close to the city center landmark.
He had been present for hours at the site supervising the setup of security systems, which had been illegally inhabited by unknown people, as per local media.
"It is alleged the deceased was confronted by three unidentified men after parking his vehicle, and they began shooting at him before fleeing the scene on foot," authorities said.
Surveillance tape showed a man with dreadlocks and clad in what looked like a security uniform firing shots on Stock before running away.
The DJ attempted to flee after he was wounded but succumbed to his injuries a short distance away.
It was further revealed that Stock had an gun that was not fired and nothing was taken during the assault.
