Previous British Broadcasting Corporation Consultants Undergo MPs' Questioning After Allegations of Partiality in Leaked Memorandum
We start with questions from Conservative lawmaker the panel's head, who leads the committee.
She initiates by offering background to the disclosed memo authored by Michael Prescott and published in a national newspaper.
"I do not desire the BBC leaning this way or that way, I just want it neutral, fair and equitable," he states.
When asked if he considers the British Broadcasting Corporation is structurally prejudiced, Prescott responds: "Absolutely not. It is important to note, a great deal the BBC does is world class - including factual and fictional content."
However, he continues: "There exists substantial tasks that must be undertaken at the British Broadcasting Corporation."
A further former external British Broadcasting Corporation specialist questioned by the committee, Caroline Daniel, remarks she takes the BBC with great importance and that it operates a "ongoing system and vigorous discourse" on fluid and multifaceted topics.
"Did the BBC prepared to engage in a proper discussion and argument and take action?" she reflects. "As I see it, affirmative, they were."
