It's a challenge for Australia to achieve unprecedented feats.

The highest peaks have been successfully scaled.

This is the unit that has won seven Cricket World Cups, in addition to six more T20 titles, and once went nearly four years without defeat in 50-over cricket.

The alternative records, targeted by the achievement hunters, are the only things left for a team that has won it all.

That it took up to Sunday's three-wicket win over India for them to complete their first ODI chase exceeding 300, taking back their record for the highest in the female 50-over format, is, honestly, a compliment to the bowling attack that have worn canary yellow over the past 50 years.

It's challenging for their batters to hold a record if not afforded the opportunity.

Finally, the outcome of Australia allowing 330 runs was skipper Alyssa Healy getting a platform to deliver her latest masterpiece.

Initially recognized as the young family member of renowned former Aussie wicketkeeper Ian, she made her debut in 2010 after Australia failed to win either of the 20 or 50-over World Cups from the prior year and has seen it all through 15 championship-filled years since.

A T20 World Cup win came three months after her debut and seven global championships have come from 10 tries across formats.

The gritty keeper was present as well in Derby in 2017 when a semi-final defeat by India briefly halted the winning streak.

That loss "drove us to rethink our standards," Healy commented earlier.

At the next 50-over World Cup in New Zealand, Healy hit 170 against England in the championship match and was awarded tournament MVP. She made sure her country would not come up short.

The question of whether this newest brilliant performance exceeded that prior achievement can be debated.

Some will argue the case for the pressure of a final. Others can counter with the difficulty that comes when pursuing an unprecedented total and a loud pro-India audience of 20,000.

What's clear is this century was considerably tougher to see coming.

The Christchurch destruction in 2022 happened while she led the batting statistics, but this performance was preceded by six games in India over the past few weeks in which she had been unable to reach 30.

"If you've been watching me in training, it's been a challenging time because it seemed I've had no rhythm completely," commented Healy.

"However when you take the field, your competitive nature take over and you completely engage with the contest."

Healy's fighting spirit has always been her key asset - and a priceless quality in taking over from famous previous leader Meg Lanning.

She was challenged by India's emerging talent Kranti Gaud in last month's ODI series, out to the 22-year-old seamer in all three matches, but here that only provided Healy's spark.

A single was taken off Gaud's first delivery and from there the right-hander was in motion.

"A chance to play and lock in a contest with her and just have a bit of fun in that aspect, sort of got me going," commented Healy.

She got to fifty in 35 balls - her fastest at a World Cup - and her century in 84 as she attacked short-pitched balls, hitting 21 fours and three maximums.

By the time she was out the team required another 66 at one run per ball - an achievable target now needing a comfortable finish.

"Chasing 330 runs is new territory so I'm happy we have the belief to achieve that now," stated Healy further.

"Preferably we shouldn't have to repeat it but, if necessary, we know we can do it."

Those words will be the ultimate thing Australia's opponents at this tournament want to hear.

In recent days a belief they will succeed regardless of circumstances has grown stronger - this success coming after victory over Pakistan by 107 run margin despite struggling at 76-7 at a certain moment.

Following this Australia face Bangladesh before an encounter with longtime competitors England in Indore in 10 days, by which point a last-four spot may probably be guaranteed.

It was at that stage they left the prior year's T20 World Cup in a shock defeat by South Africa - a match Healy missed because of ruptured tissue in her foot as she captained her nation for the first time at a major tournament.

Such is her determination, she subsequently stated she wanted to have participated with the discomfort.

But while she afterwards confessed those injuries have delayed thoughts of retirement, this World Cup is anticipated as her concluding event as leader in 50-over cricket and she is yet to win an international tournament as leader.

Success in India would bring her to the top of her final mountain.
