The Division Is Coming to the Tabletop as a Deeply Strategic Tabletop Role-Playing Game

The gritty universe from Tom Clancy’s The Division will be translated into a tabletop role-playing experience. A collaboration was established to create a TTRPG set within the franchise’s post-pandemic landscape. This initiative has been announced, with a funding drive planned to begin in the spring of 2026.

"This project aims to deliver the franchise’s distinctive tension, strategic depth, and iconic world-building to the table, offering fans a fresh avenue to experience The Division through deep narrative and mission-based gameplay," reads an announcement.

Launch products will include a starter set, essential manuals, a GM screen, miniatures, and several deluxe editions.

Delving Into The Division's Apocalyptic World

In this universe, a deadly virus called Green Poison was released in NYC, plunging the nation into turmoil. As the crisis worsens, civil order breaks down and hostile groups emerge, transforming the urban landscape into a battlefield. To restore law and order, the government {activate|deploy] The Division, a secret cell of sleeper agents. This is where the agents come in.

Work on the game has been in progress for about three years, and it is confirmed to be finished. The upcoming crowdfunding effort will function as a preorder system to reach a wider market, particularly in the United States. Production will start immediately following the campaign, with deliveries expected for the latter part of 2026.

A Streamlined Tactical System: The GRIS System

An early look at the game's rules reveals it employs d10s exclusively through its proprietary GRIS system, promoting a fast-paced and tactical approach. Agents leverage abilities to roll a handful of dice, usually from one to five d10s.

  • Rather than adding results together, participants choose a single “result die” from the group.
  • This die is then compared against a target difficulty.
  • Rolling a perfect 10 grants special effects, such as extra damage or boosted support.

Combat Emphasize Positioning and Awareness

Fights stress positioning and situational awareness, mirroring the source material. Factors like cover, height advantage, or line of sight directly influence dice rolls. This mechanic is designed to reward teamwork and smart positioning instead of raw numbers.

A Novel Wound Mechanic

The way injuries is managed introduces a compelling thematic twist. Operatives have a injury limit; sustaining too much damage reduces their effectiveness by decreasing the size of their dice pool.

  1. At critical condition, an agent collapses, but is not knocked out.
  2. They can still move and perform restricted acts, emulating the "downed" state common to many shooter games.
  3. Any agent in this state must roll on a trauma table, risking lingering conditions like shock or crippling injuries.

An Introductory Adventure

A free introductory rulebook is promised in the near future. It contains a ready-to-play introductory scenario titled Ashes of Murray Hill. In this scenario, players lead the hunt for a missing medical team and must thwart an attack by the notorious Rikers faction, who have taken over that Manhattan district. Further information and the full range of offerings are expected to be unveiled near the campaign launch.
