The Mighty Nein's Opening Sequence Chose the Incorrect Popular RPG Show Song

This latest animated series, the newest animated adventure from Critical Role, unveiled a new opening credits. It features the beloved cast of misfits, outcasts, and criminals fighting hard and taking names, while teasing at several agonizing backstories for characters including Liam O'Brien's mage Caleb, and another actor's warlock orc, the character Fjord.

Overall, the intro looks amazing. However, I felt that an element was missing in the song choice.

The intro employs "Welcome to Wildemount", a truly stellar song composed by producer and singer Colm McGuinness. It's a track originating from the soundtrack album of the same name, the second release put out by the production company's music division their music brand. It's a great nostalgic option, and I suspect that devotees of the second campaign will love its presence.

But for me, The series' intro fails to capture the hype and energy that was part of the show's live-play sessions. "Your Turn to Roll", written by musician the artist, was an instant classic in my view when it was first revealed in 2015, and it only got better when cast member the performer added lyrics to the tune for the animated Campaign 2 opening in 2018.

Including singing from one actress, Laura Bailey, a co-star, as well as Riegel himself, the track was memorable and fun. At the time, I hadn't seen the second campaign at that point, but it was so infectious that I still saved it on my device. It's a song that knows how to get you pumped before you dive into an installment of adventurous fun.

The show's intro with "Welcome to Wildemount" doesn't strike the right notes in my opinion. It's a grand piece of music, but based on my understanding of this party, I can't help but feel that its tone is somewhat mismatched.

Naturally, Critical Role has already said that the series will have some changes and variations from the actual-play campaign. An adjusted mood for its opening appears as among these.

This animated adventure will be available to watch on the streaming service from Nov. 19. If you can't wait until then, or wish to prepare to learn about the personas of the second series, the actual play are accessible on Spotify and YouTube.
